Tasting notes
Tasted blind. Mid crimson. Powerful cassis aroma. Quite a gentle palate with some sweetness and accessibility. (JR)

The 2021 Château Potensac is up-front and charming, with medium-bodied aromas and flavors of ripe red fruits, spice, and savory herbs in a balanced, elegant package. It shows a very classic 2021 fresher, lively style and will round into form with just a year or two of bottle age and evolve nicely over the following decade.
The 2021 Potensac, which was bottled in June, lacks a bit of lift on the nose. Touches of mocha infuse the red fruit, but it needs a little more brightness. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly angular tannins on the entry. Sour cherry mixes with light, tarry notes and a rather severe finish. It feels a bit "hobbled" by the growing season.
The 2021 Potensac is a racy, heady wine. There's a bit more Cabernet Sauvignon in this year's blend, and that comes through in the wine's personality. Medium in body, savory and super-expressive, Potensac is terrific in 2021. I especially admire its finesse. Lifted floral top notes brighten the finish.
