Tasting notes
Spectacular aromas of blackcurrants and flowers such as violets. Bark and tea. Full body and firm and silky tannins. Excellent structure. Minerals, stones and plenty of cement character. Very long and intense.

The 2014 Futo 5500 is 95% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Merlot. This is an incredibly sexy, broad, voluptuous and flattering style of wine, with an inky purple color and a big, sweet kiss of spring flowers intermixed with blueberry and black raspberry as well as some cassis. It has a full-bodied palate, but a wonderful lightness of being as it cascades with its fruit, glycerin and purity across the taster’s mouth This is a gorgeously proportioned, remarkable wine to drink over the next 25-30 years.
Futo's 2014 5500 is dark, powerful and imposing, with plenty of youthful tannins and tons of intensity. A host of crushed rocks, menthol, lavender, smoke, crème de cassis and inky blue/purplish fruit give the 2014 much of its personality. Vibrant and structured to the core, the 2014 is riveting today. Here, too, the oak has integrated very well. The 2014 is a powerful, explosive wine endowed with real personality. It is also one of the wines of the vintage.
An embryonic wine, the 2014 5500 comes across as linear, compact and in need of time to flesh out, which is pretty much the same it tasted like when I first saw if from barrel six months ago! Today, the 2014 is a bundle of energy and potential. The long finish and purity of flavors suggest significant potential.
