Drink 2025-2030, Vinfolio, May 2025

2002 Belle Brise An atypical Pomerol – this is one for Pinot Noir lovers. It's built entirely on finesse and terroir rather than the usual Bordeaux approach of extraction and accessibility. Elegant yet structured, it shows vibrant acidity, good length, and subtle power beneath its refined frame. There are clear signs of maturity, but the wine still feels remarkably youthful. 2003 Belle Brise Like the 2002, but with the added warmth of the vintage. Despite the heat of 2003, the wine remains balanced and fresh – never flabby or overly ripe. The nose is expressive, full of ripe fruit and earthy notes. On the palate, it’s deep and complex with hints of cooked fruit and spice. A beautiful showing. 2004 Belle Brise Sitting stylistically between 2002 and 2003, this vintage offers medium aromatic intensity, with notes of blackcurrant, black cherry, toast and spice. The structure is harmonious, with medium acidity and tannins. Elegant, poised, and drinking well now.

About the producer

Château Belle-Brise - producer
Belle Brise

Tucked away in Pomerol’s southwest corner Ch. Belle-Brise is the ultimate insider’s Bordeaux. With just two hectares of walled garden vineyard, production at this estate is minuscule, making it one of the rarest wines in the marketplace (and arguably more exclusive than either Pétrus or Le Pin).
