Tasting notes
The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Tench Vineyard comes from an Oakville site that's just next to Screaming Eagle. It also spent 20 months in 60% new French oak. Deep purple-hued, with loads of red, blue, and black fruits as well as candied violets, orange blossom, Asian spice, and lead pencil notes, it too has firmer tannins, good mid-palate density, and a great finish. This young, backward, unevolved red is going to benefit from 2-4 years of bottle age and keep for two decades. 370 cases.

The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Tench Vineyard captures all of the natural intensity of this Oakville site. Black cherry, plum, crushed rocks, lavender and spice are all dialed up. This is a terrific expression of Tench, with plenty of muscle and all the dark, brooding intensity that is typical here.
Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Tench Vineyard offers up fragrant notes of cedar, cloves and pencil shavings to begin, leading to a core of blackcurrant cordial, preserved plums and wild blueberries with a waft of roses. Full-bodied, rich and opulent in the mouth, it has lovely freshness to counter all that decadent fruit and velvety tannins to support, finishing long and cedar laced.
