The 2014 Montrachet Grand Cru is a completely different beast to the Bâtard-Montrachet. It delivers a payload of mineralité on the nose with intoxicating scents of lemon rind, limestone, white peach and a touch of walnut just brilliantly defined. The palate is extremely intense with perfectly judged acidity. This is a feisty Montrachet that is spicier than others that I have tasted in this vintage. It's a compelling wine that rivets you to the spot and it has an enormously long future. Bad news? Just one and a half barrels folks.

(just 1-1/2 barrels produced; I tasted from a new barrique ): Aromas of pineapple, smoky oak, clove and iodine. Powerfully structured grand cru with terrific acid cut and tannic spine to support its citrus and stone fruit flavors. Finishes tactile, saline and very long.
