Score 15.5/20 · Drink 2021-2026, Jancis Robinson MW, May 2021

Barberino Tavernelle. 80% Sangiovese, 10% Ciliegiolo, 5% Canaiolo, 5% Malvasia Nera – most unusual! Certified organic. Malo in tank or concrete followed by ageing in 500-litre oak casks. Pale ruby. Rather soft and easy initially and then with pinched tanginess on the finish. Not really knit. Though there is some persistence. (JR)
