Score 17/20 · Drink 2018-2030, Jancis Robinson MW, Aug 2024

A blend of 77% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, 6% Petit Verdot, 2% Malbec. 85% of the fruit comes from Alexander Valley, while 13% comes from Mendocino and 2% from Sonoma's Dry Creek Valley. Fined with egg whites and filtered before bottling. Aged in 47% new and 53% second-use French oak for 13 months. Smells of tobacco leaf, mint, blackcurrant and cherry. Juicy flavours of cherry and blackcurrant mix with citrus peel and a touch of cola nut as muscular tannins coat the mouth and gently squeeze the palate. Notes of dried herbs and earth linger in the finish. Excellent acidity and nice medium-bodied weight on the palate. Very fine. (AY)
