Cask sample. RS c 110 g/l. Zippy fresh grapefruit and ripest of lemon fruit. Very sweet, almost honeyed lemon. Seems riper than typical Auslese. Even with all this sweetness, it is balanced by bright acidity. Simple at this youthful stage, viscous and mouth-filling but the freshness takes you to a long finish. Lots of pleasure but less fascinating than the dry wines in 2018. The empty glass reveals a rather nice dusty character but the overall impression at the moment is very ripe but pure fruit. (JH)
