Score 86/100 · Drink 2023-2027, Neal Martin, Aug 2023

The 1983 Saint-Pierre has a light ferrous, rustic nose with touches of morels coming through, fully mature but perhaps better than I expected. The palate is medium-bodied with soft tannins, brown spices, leather and red peppercorns towards the finish. Since this came from magnum, drink sooner rather than later. Tasted at the château.

Score 87/100 · Drink 1989, Robert Parker, Jan 1998

Surprisingly similar in style to the 1982, fat, succulent, and very concentrated with a soft, rich, almost jammy concentration, this full-bodied, robust wine has a seductive lushness and will make excellent drinking. Anticipated maturity: Now. Last tasted, 3/89.
