2008 Chateau les Roques Malbec Cahors Les Vin des Noces

Rather startlingly, in a clear glass bottle! Very religious-looking label. No oak. In cement vats for 12 to 16 months, 'allowing a slow micro-oxygenation of the wine'. Aubergine purple. Deep mulberry nose. This is double bass and tomtom drums, reverberating, smoked meat and charred black plums. Sooty tannins. Not much length or follow-through but plenty of flourish on the mid palate. (TC)
