The 2015 Le Bon Pasteur has a lively and well defined bouquet with smoke and tobacco-tinged red fruit, quite forward and eager to please. The palate is medium-bodied with fine grip and crisp tannin. The acidity is well judged although it comes across as just a little too sweet and honeyed (in texture) on the finish. This showed better just after bottling, but I suspect it will improve with age as it loses some of its infant exoticism. Tasted blind at the Southwold 2015 Bordeaux tasting.
Tasted blind. Intense foxglove nose. Rather intriguing. Very rich and compelling and concentrated, though certainly not relaxed! Intense in every way but the balance is there. Sandpaper tannins on the end but the fruit is plummy. (JR)
About the producer
Famed winemaking consultant Michel Rolland is synonymous with this estate. The vines here were purchased by his grandparents and he ran the property from 1979. Although Rolland still makes the wine today, he sold the estate in 2013.
