Score 18/20 · Drink 2022-2030, Jancis Robinson MW, Nov 2023

Fruit comes from Napa, Sonoma and Marin counties. A blend of 87% Chardonnay and 13% Pinot Noir, whole-cluster pressed. 21% was barrel-fermented, the rest in stainless steel. Malolactic conversion permitted on select lots, inhibited in most. Spends eight years on the lees in bottle, disgorged in the spring of 2022. Dosage 3.06 g/l.    Light gold, with very fine bubbles. Aromas of marzipan and candied orange peel. A faint apple sweetness is carried on a voluminous, silky mousse and then a wash of seawater, pink grapefruit and finger lime course across the palate. Bright and electric. (AY)
