Tasting notes
The 2020 Horse Heaven Hills Cabernet Sauvignon, originating from the Discovery, Wallula and Champoux vineyards and blended with 8% Merlot, bursts from the glass with a lighter frame but possesses all of the focus and finesse of a world-class Cabernet with a seductive, red-fruited expressiveness. It unfolds on the palate with picturesque red fruits lifted by floral notes, displaying elegance and grace in a seductively focused and precise manner, drawing power from finesse rather than robustness. Firing on all cylinders, this stunningly gorgeous wine delights with abundant cherry and plum flavors, supported by velvety tannins that ensure its food-friendly nature for years to come, evoking dreams of indulging in a succulent filet mignon. The wine aged for 21 months in 80% new French oak barrels. Only 400 cases were produced.

The 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon Horse Heaven Hills (92% Cabernet and 8% Merlot) is another perfumed, elegant wine in the lineup. Red and black currants, dried herbs, tobacco, and cedar pencil define the aromatics, and it's medium to full-bodied, with ripe tannins and a great finish. It’s still tight and reserved, so give bottles 3-4 years in the cellar. It should have two decades of longevity.
