Score 18/20 · Drink 2003-2009, Jancis Robinson MW, May 2002

Best year of the last 10 until 2001 came along, bottled March 1999, contains three per cent Cabernet Franc. There's a hint of eucalyptus mintiness and strong cassis character but this is a seriously constructed fine wine. The next three vintages are looking pretty good too. (JR)

Full saturated red. Penetrating aromas of plum, pine oil, resin and eucalyptus; middle-aged tasters will think of the '60s. Dense, silky and mouthfilling, and structured to age. Quite concentrated but the green, eucalyptus component will be too strong for many tasters. Finishes with big, dusty tannins. This is the top-rated current release from Chile.
