Tasting notes
The 2010 Chianti Classico is drop-dead gorgeous. Bright red berries, savory herbs, crushed rocks and flowers jump from the glass in a fabulous Chianti Classico endowed with superb pedigree and class. Mouthwatering acidity supports floral, savory finish. This is a textbook example from one of Italy's most inspired producers. In a word: magnificent.

The 2010 Chianti Classico is deeply redolent of wet earth, wild berry, underbrush and blue flower. It shows some of the most elegant and fine aromas you can find in a Chianti Classico. The wine caresses the palate gently thanks to the silky nature of the tannins. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2020. Barberino Val d'Elsa. 80% Sangiovese, 15% Canaiolo, 5% Syrah. Cask sample. Mid crimson. Sweet and beguiling, very ripe fruit nose. Same richness and extract on the palate with youthful acidity. Fragrant finish. (WS)
About the producer

Situated north of Castellina, on the western side of Chianti Classico, Isole e Olena was created by the De Marchi family in the 1950s and has since become one of the region’s leading names. It is renowned for its top bottling Cepparello, a pure Sangiovese, as well as its brilliant Chardonnay.
