44% Merlot, 24% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Petit Verdot, 12% Cabernet Franc. Aged for 22 months in new barriques. The second wine of RdV. Dark crimson. Quite sweet – sweeter than Bordeaux and more 'California' than most wines from this address – but with good freshness and a hint of tea leaves on the finish. Seems quite high in Merlot (this was written before I'd seen the assemblage). Just a little stringy on the finish. Medium weight and the alcohol is well hidden. (JR)

Lovely deep, dark crimson. Some minerals on the nose. Much less obviously ‘California’ than the 2008. Sweet and lovely, great balance. Very lively and lots of ripe tannins but approachable now. Very rich but not too sweet. (JR)
