Tasting notes
The 2016 Riesling Zöbinger Ried Heiligenstein Alte Reben 1ÖTW is deep, clear and elegant on the subtle yet greatly complex nose, displaying bright fruit aromas along with substantial minerality, delicate flintiness and herbal notes. Round and silky on the palate, this is a substantial, highly elegant, sustainable, salty and tensioned Heiligenstein full of finesse and without any age. Very deep and perfectly balanced. A sublime dry Riesling from the Kamptal's greatest terroir. Tasted at the domain in September 2019.

Cork. This smells much more creamy than the non-Alte Reben version. Seductive combination of ripeness and freshness and the impression of a light oak influence – but only in that creaminess that rounds out the edges of the Riesling not in any flavour except perhaps a touch of spice on the finish. Lovely wine with perfect balance and citrus purity at the core. (JH)
