Tasting notes
The 2011 The Change Up, a Cabernet Sauvignon/Syrah blend, is an excellent choice for drinking over the next few years. Blue and black fruit, licorice, cloves, leather and mint meld together nicely in the glass. The 2011 is juicy, expressive and absolutely delicious. The mid-weight style holds considerable near term appeal. In 2011, the Change Up is a bit more Cabernet Sauvignon dominated than is typically the case.

(73% cabernet sauvignon, 18% cabernet franc and 9% syrah; aged in all new oak): Musky aromas of currant, plum, licorice and menthol. Juicy, savory and intense, showing good energy and spine and a saline nuance to the flavors of red fruits, tobacco leaf, minerals, violet and mint. Combines a smooth, fine-grained texture with lovely vinosity. Nothing thick or heavy about this 2011--or green, for that matter. Fruit sources for this disparate blend included Calistoga, Pritchard Hill, Howell Mountain, Oakville and Kick Ranch syrah.
