Tasting notes
Coming from the Paderewski Vineyard in Paso Robles, the 2016 Syrah Majestique is 100% Syrah that was mostly destemmed and brought up all in puncheons. It has a rocking Paso Robles bouquet of ripe black fruits, ground pepper, crushed violets, and hints of bouquet garni. Ripe, full-bodied, incredibly layered and sexy on the palate, it’s a beautiful and pleasure-bent Syrah that does everything right. Drink it over the coming decade. 130 cases.

The 2016 Syrah Paderewski Vineyard Majestique offers a striking expression of this highly regarded Paso Robles site. Red cherry jam, plum, lavender and spice notes all meld together in a wine that is both rich and yet also very nicely delineated. Floral and savory overtones develop in the glass, but this is a decidedly potent, concentrated style that emphasizes fruit intensity.
Composed of 100% Syrah with 10% to 15% whole cluster, aged for 22 months in 100% new 225- and 300-liter French oak barrels, the very deep purple-black colored 2016 Syrah Majestique opens with powerful notes of baked black cherries, blackberry pie and stewed plums with hints of dried Provence herbs, garrigue, dusty soil and bacon fat plus wafts of black pepper and wood smoke. Full-bodied, it completely coats the mouth with spicy/peppery black fruit preserves, framed by firm, rounded tannins and great freshness, finishing on a lingering licorice note. 130 cases produced.
