Tasting notes
From Coombsville sub-AVA of Napa Valley though it is labelled with the larger region instead. Rich, oak-friendly aromatics and palate. Flavours of ripe, dark fruit and spice with accents of gunpowder and a finish of hot pepper. This is a generous, full-bodied example of Napa Valley Cabernet that avoids any sense of heaviness and celebrates its fruit with a velvety layer of oak spice and bourbon notes. The two are well wed throughout and carried across the palate by mouth-watering acidity. Fine, persistent tannins. (ECB)

Meteor's 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Perseid is sumptuous and beautifully expressive in the glass. The 2012 is built on layer after layer of flavor. Raspberry jam, cloves, new leather and menthol are all precise and delineated throughout. Firm beams of tannin give the wine its energy and sense of drive. This is a terrific showing from Meteor.
Compared to the other Meteor Vineyard new releases in the offing, there was a bit more sweetness, depth and blueberry and black raspberry fruit, but still a decidedly a cool-climate Cabernet Sauvignon in the 2012 Meteor Cabernet Sauvignon Perseid. This wine seems to have the most character and finesse, with a floral note entering the picture. This medium-bodied, graceful, very feminine-style Cabernet Sauvignon should drink well for 10-15 years.
(100% cabernet; a blend of clones 7, 4 and 337): Deep ruby-red. Lovely lift to the aromas of cherry, currant leaf and licorice. Crunchy cranberry and redcurrant flavors are accented by currant leaf and spices. A wine of moderate depth and length, just a tad dry on the back.
