Tasting notes
The 2018 Red Blend Alessio is composed of 37.5% Cabernet Franc from Sugarloaf Mountain vineyard, 37.5% Cabernet Sauvignon from Tench vineyard and 25% Merlot from Sugarloaf Mountain vineyard. Deep garnet-purple colored, it leaps from the glass with vibrant kirsch, dried Provence herbs and dusty soil scents with a core of warm cassis, blueberry pie and menthol. Medium to full-bodied, the rich, dark fruit have a lovely red berry and herbal lift, framed by grainy tannins and refreshing acidity, finishing long and minty. 115 cases were made.

Lots of redcurrants, bouquet garni, iron, leafy tobacco and cedary spice emerge from the 2018 Alessio Proprietary Red. A complex, satisfying 2018 offering full-bodied richness, ripe, sweet tannins, and terrific balance, I’d be happy to drink a bottle any time over the coming 15-20 years.
