Saturated black-ruby to the rim. Adamantly black aromas of blackberry, violet and shoe polish. Lush, fat and very concentrated, but quite closed today and dominated by its structure. Black fruit flavors complicated by suggestions of spice and bitter chocolate. Very long but quite tannic, even a bit tough, today. Impressive, but the '99 may well prove to be the more elegant wine.
