Score 17/20 · Drink 2017-2021, Jancis Robinson MW, Sep 2017
Panzano. 95% Sangiovese, 5% Colorino. 24 hour cold maceration in steel tank, followed by alcoholic fermentation. Malolactic fermentation partly in French oak barriques, partly in steel tanks. Aged 12 months in new barriques (10%), second-use barriques (60%) and large cask French oak (30%), followed by at least three months in bottle. Dark crimson. Open cherry and raspberry nose that is a little lifted and underpinned by a touch of oak, hint of tobacco leaf and soy sauce. Supple, concentrated palate with a certain elegance to it. Long and with soft rustic, bitter tannins and with the capacity to improve further for at least a couple of years in bottle. (WS). 13.5%
