Made from 83% Cabernet Sauvignon and 17% Cabernet Franc, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon is deep garnet-purple colored. It delivers a profound, powerful nose of blackcurrant jelly, blackberry pie, and baked plums, plus suggestions of cedar chest, iron ore, mocha, and star anise with a touch of cardamom. The big, rich, full-bodied palate is still incredibly youthful, featuring juicy blackcurrants and blackberries with a velvety texture, finishing very long and energetic.

Today, the 2016 is supremely inviting, but it will be even better in another few years' time. The two 2016 releases from Dalla Valle start with the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon, a sensational wine that easily stands next to the smaller production Maya cuvée. This rocking base level Cabernet has awesome notes of blackcurrants, graphite, crushed rocks, chocolate, and damp earth/forest floor aromas and flavors. It's rich, powerful and concentrated, yet also elegant, with silky tannins and a finish where its class shows clearly. It's a beautiful bottle of wine that will have two decades or more of longevity.
About the producer
Dalla Valle Vineyards was founded in 1986 by Naoko and her late husband Gustav Dalla Valle, in Oakville. Initially they had wanted to create a luxury resort, but when they discovered the potential of the site, they changed tack and decided to make wine.
