Tasting notes
‘Vecina’ comes from the Spanish word for neighbour. Located in the foothills of the Mayacamas, the vines of Vecina receive the warmth of the morning sun and – especially, in hot or dry years – the cooling shelter of the mountain ridges in the afternoons. Fragrant and complex. Sweet-fruited initially, with a clear tomato-leaf and blackcurrant core. It shows a clear Cab expression with a firm structure and an incredibly long dark-fruit core. Excellent ageing potential, yet still a baby. (FG)

The 2020 Vecina is similar in style, with a medium-bodied, elegant, layered style. Dark plums, blue fruits, iron, and spicy violet notes define the aromatics, and it has fine tannins and a silky mouthfeel. While I don t think cellaring is the way to go with many 2020s, this should have a solid decade or more of longevity.
The 2020 Vecina is one of the most expressive wine in this range today. It possesses gorgeous inner sweetness and perfume, albeit in the lighter style of the year. Succulent dark cherry, plum, mocha, new leather and licorice are nicely pushed forward. This is a gorgeous, polished wine and an especially fine achievement for the year.
The 2020 Vecina is one of the most promising young wines of this very unique vintage. Dark and virile, the 2020 is also classy and polished, something that isn't always the case with young wines off this site. Dark cherry/plum fruit, lavender, spice and dried herbs all meld together in this layered, expressive Cabernet.
