This gorgeous, fully mature, complex Pape Clement exhibits notes of smoky tobacco, earth, loamy soil, forest floor, black cherries, plums and cassis. Medium to full-bodied, fresh and lively, the acids have fallen away and the tannins have melted into an opulent, fleshy, classic Bordeaux. Consume it over the next 10-15 years. Bravo!

Deep smudgy garnet. Chocolate sweetness on the nose and dried fruit, autumn leaves and some bright spicy fruit notes – cranberry like. Dry and almost dusty on the palate. Rather flat in the middle. (JH)
Deep ruby with some biscuity edge to it. Flattering and although the acidity is quite dominant, it is not overwhelming. Not the purest but one of the most flattering. Chalky finish. (Average group score: 15.8) (JR)

Among the oldest estates in Bordeaux, Ch. Pape Clément has been guided into the modern era by Bernard Magrez, who has managed the estate since 1985. It makes some of the best reds in the region.
