Loads of smokiness on the nose with a real drive of fresh peachy fruit. Quite dry at the moment on the mid palate, pleasant but needs time to deal with the oak. (AC)

The 2018 Chassagne-Montrachet Village Blanc is showing well, opening in the glass with notes of pear, Meyer lemon, toasted nuts and dried white flowers. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, fleshy but precise, both more open-knit and a touch less concentrated than the superb 2017. This will drink well young.
A citrusy top note is present on the aromas of petrol, resin and various white-fleshed fruit and in particular apple and pear compote. The delicious, plump and rounded medium-bodied flavors are generously proportioned, yet the lemon-tinged acidity is just sufficiently firm to keep the balanced on the sneaky long finale. This needs to develop a bit more depth but it should be able to do so if allowed a few years of bottle age.
