Tasting notes
The 2004 Luce della Vite (Sangiovese, Merlot) is frankly a puzzling wine. There are some attractive notes of dark fruit, chocolate and baking spices, yet the tannins are excessively hard and astringent, which suggests a problem of over-extraction. There is remarkably little finesse or elegance in a vintage in which those qualities were relatively easy to come by. Bottle age is unlikely to make a difference here.
