Tasting notes
The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Lore Vineyard comes close to equaling the magical 2016 and has a stunning bouquet of cassis and black currants intermixed with lots of smoked tobacco, earth, and scorched earth. It's deep, powerful, full-bodied, and tannic, yet has loads of fruit and texture. It needs time, but it’s a magical wine in the making.

The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Lore Vineyard offers a striking interplay of the richness of the year along with the more intensely savory notes that are typical of this rugged hillside site in Oakville. Graphite, grilled herbs, menthol, sage, licorice and lavender add to the wine's brooding, virile feel. This is a strong showing. The 2017 is going to need a few years to come into its own, but even today it is wild, exotic and stunning in its beauty.
A final tank blend ready for bottling, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Lore Vineyard displays a deep garnet-purple color, offering notions of prunes, crème de cassis, dried flowers, exotic spices, fruit cake, smoked meats and tilled soil with a touch of iron ore. Full-bodied, firm and taut, it has a lovely backbone of seamless freshness lending definition to the muscular palate, finishing with impressively long-lasting savory and spice layers. 125 cases will be made.
