Tasting notes
The 2012 Pinot Noir Sun Chase Vineyard is quite interesting to taste, especially since in this vintage, Mahle worked with fully destemmed fruit. That seems to have given the Sun Chase notable mid-palate depth and expressiveness to match a distinctive personality built on textural richness and ripeness. This juicy, overt Pinot is likely to offer its best drinking sooner rather than later. The 2012 is all about immediacy, but there is not a whole lot after that.

Bright red. Intensely perfumed bouquet of raspberry preserves, potpourri and minerals, with a powerful Asian spice overtone. Silky, palate-staining red berry liqueur flavors are impressively concentrated, with tangy mineral and floral nuances providing lift. Closes spicy and vibrant, with excellent mineral thrust and silky, slow-building tannins.
