Moving to the Grand Vin 2020 Proprietary Red, it's a blend of 74% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Petit Verdot that was aged all in new barrels. It's inky-hued and has a gorgeous nose of mulled blackcurrants, mulberries, new leather, graphite, and assorted spicy, savory, almost iron-like nuances. I'd easily put this up with the finest wines in the vintage, It's full-bodied and has a beautifully layered mouthfeel, ripe tannins, and a great finish.

The 2020 Sloan is one of the wines of this very challenging vintage. There is notably less oak imprint from less new wood used in this edition. Stylish, elegant and exceptionally well balanced for the year, with the fruit pushed to the foreground, the 2020 shows terrific density and class. This spent 45 days on skins.

The 2020 Sloan is a promising wine. Bright and punchy, with terrific energy, the 2020 is shaping up nicely. There are no hard edges or hard contours. In 2020, the flavor profile is distinctly red fruit-leaning. Bright acids and lifted floral accents lend vibrancy throughout. In 2020, Sloan is a bit less texturally opulent than in most years, but the mid-weight style is still pretty appealing. There's solid potential here.
