Certified biodynamic. Cask sample. Seductively fresh dark fruit. Light peppery note and just a touch herbal/stemmy, which lifts the red-fruited side of the wine. Fine-boned, extremely subtle and yet complete wine. (JH)

The 2023 Gevrey-Chambertin Petite Chapelle 1er Cru has some of the best aromatics amongst the Domaine's Premier Crus, with finely delineated, lifted scents of Morello cherries and crushed strawberries. The palate is medium-bodied with excellent grip and structure. Perhaps like other cuvées, it just tails off a little toward the finish, where I am seeking more flesh to cover those tannins—but it is enjoyable all the same.
