40% Chardonnay, 37% Pinot Noir, 23% Pinot Meunier, from predominantly grand and premier crus. Aged for seven years on the lees. Dosage 5 g/l. Mytik Diam technological cork closure. Tasted blind. Quite rich and ripe on the nose. Lightly smoky and rather Pinot-esque. Full and broad and zesty. Orange-peel note. Tight and tense. But very rewarding. Texture like sandpaper. Complete. 2009? (JR)

Tasted from magnum, the 2008 Brut Grand Vintage is broad and ample on the palate, with terrific volume that emerges with time in the glass. Lemon peel, pastry and white flowers give the 2008 brightness, but what I like most here is a very distinctive sense of verticality that gives the wine the spine to balance its more overt leanings.
Pale lemon colour. Dense nose with some suggestion of richness. Sweet and sour on the palate with sweetness rather in the ascendant. A hint of spice. Lots to get your chops round. (JR)
