Tasting notes
Au Pied du Mont Chauve has 0.5 hectares of this Premier Cru, neighbouring Chenevottes and closer to the village on the northern side, with vines that average 65 years in age. The 2023 Premier Cru Les Macherelles opens with deep white fruit, alongside peach, ginger and Mirabelle plum aromas, as well as freshly baked bread. This is concentrated and powerful, with a full-bodied mid-palate. It is intense, rich and deep but still manages to stay very elegant and fresh, bringing balance to this opulent wine. There is a surprising touch of minerality on the finish that drives more white fruit towards the end. It is a great wine, one that will repay five or six years of cellaring. A great effort here again.
About the producer

Au Pied du Mont Chauve is one of the Picard family's labels. The estate produces brilliant-value Burgundy and is one of few producers able to hold back wine for later release.
