Tasting notes
The 2021 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Fontenys 1er Cru has a stoic bouquet at first, although it needs a few swirls of the glass to reveal attractive black cherry, raspberry and rose petal scents. It's soon found its voice and feels open and expressive. The palate is medium-bodied with crunchy red fruit, fine grip and mineralité , gaining depth towards the sorbet-fresh finish with traces of fresh fig and brown spices. A lot is happening here, and it should develop with style in bottle.

The 2021 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Fontenys is also especially suave, unfurling in the glass with aromas of cherries, raspberries, licorice and orange zest, followed by a medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy palate that's supple, elegantly layered and giving, with lively acids and a melting finish.
The 2021 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Fontenys 1er Cru has quite a sensual nose with black cherries, vanilla pod, blueberry and light pressed violet scents that cohere nicely with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, fine acidity, quite focused with a sapid, blood orange infused finish that lingers. Afford this 4-5 years in bottle.
