Composed of 100% Syrah aged in large-format barrels, the 2022 Clos du Lican embodies the sleek and glossy style of Clos Apalta and applies it to Syrah, resulting in an opulent wine with intense concentration and power that feels slightly one-dimensional within the Clos Apalta lineup. Sweet dark berries and purple flowers characterize the nose, leading to a rich, enveloping palate that finishes with luxurious dark berry flavors, creamy oak and a touch of alcoholic heat.

A blend of Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre, the 2022 Clos Du Lican Côte De Monsieur was completely destemmed and brought up in 60% new barrels. It has an incredibly pure bouquet of crème de cassis and black raspberries as well as peppery herbs, violets, and licorice-like nuances. This carries to a medium to full-bodied, pure, elegant red that has ultra-fine tannins and a great finish. Drink this beauty any time over the coming 10-15 years.

The 2022 Clos du Lican is 100% Syrah from Apalta. It offers intense black fruit and raspberry aromas, spiced with a touch of pepper, forest, boldo and balsamic hints. Slightly leaner in body, with a silky feel and light grip, this shows defined flavor and a broad finish supported by alcohol. The energy comes from its juicy flow and focused tannins. This is less plush than previous vintages, but with greater fruit precision. The cooler year adds clarity and lift.
