Another huge wine, the 2013 Syrah Angeli hits the palate with serious intensity and depth. Here, too the fruit is simply overpowered by new oak flavor and tannin. There is considerable underlying purity to the fruit, but it needs to be allowed to express itself. The Angeli was done with 80% whole clusters and aged in 500L barrels.

100% Syrah, 100% Stolpman Vineyard fruit. Dusty dark fruit and flower aromatics move into dusty fresh fruit and earth on the palate. Dusty tannins, mouth-watering acidity, and a persistent finish. Nice persistence and freshness. This wine is quite introspective right now but has the stuffing to develop in bottle. (ECB)
