Tasting notes
Sited just below the Clos des Mouches in Beaune and next to the Grand Clos des Epenots in Pommard. 80% 350-litre barrels, 20% glass globes. Cask sample. Mid ruby. Whole-bunch spice really punchy here, aromas very pronounced, quite a contrast to the featherlight finesse of the Bourgogne Côte d’Or and Savigny. Lots of ripe raspberry and cherry. Real intensity and breadth, driven on by the fine, zesty acidity all the way to the finish. (MH)
