Score 87/100 · Drink 2018-2024, William Kelley, Wine Advocate, Aug 2018

The 2016 Saint-Véran exhibits notes of fresh peach, white currants, spring flowers and blanched almonds. On the palate, it's medium-bodied, stony and tensile, with a tight-knit, understated profile and racy acids, concluding with a somewhat compact finish.

(just the third vintage made here from these very old vines, which Lafon split with the Bret Brothers and Frantz Chagnoleau, who happens to be the husband of Caroline Gon; there was bit of hail here in 2016): Bright, light yellow. Cool, sexy, rather pungent scents of lemon, lime, musky menthol, quinine and rocks; a bit like the Mâcon-Bussières Le Monsard. Juicy, concentrated, dense wine, consistent from start to finish. Very citrussy and fine-grained. Finishes a tad dry but this wine can be enjoyed early.
