Tasting notes
Deep white-gold, the 2022 Ried Singerriedel Riesling Smaragd shows an intensely spicy as well as elegant and aromatic nose of apricots with a certain phenolic quality. It is dense and very aromatic on the palate but not free of stress phenols, which are not particularly fine. It has somewhat astringent and washed out fruit on the finish. This is a baroque style, but at the moment, the shapes and colors are somewhat blurred. Tasted at Schloss Dürnstein, Wachau, in September 2023.

Spitz. Steep, terraced site with aspects varying from west to south at 208–328 m. Shallow, sandy soils on paragneiss. Ripe citrus fruits, white blossoms. Fresh and peachy with edgy herbal refreshment. Playful and meandering, raw-silk texture and a long stony finish. Beautiful balance. (PS)
