Score 16.5/20 · Drink 2021-2027, Tamlyn Currin, jancisrobinson.com, Aug 2021
Full bottle 1,314 g. 100% Gamay planted higher up on hillsides. Hand-picked, grape selection, low-temperature fermentation, maceration of 12–15 days. Aged in concrete tank. Like so many of these Piron Beaujolais wines, this has quite a heady florality. Parma violets and white pepper. The tannins cling to mushroom-scented purple fruit with velcro-like determination, but they're not thick or drying. Pencil lead dipped in ripe mulberries. Ink dust and rain on wrought iron. Lavender, especially on the finish – lavender lifting the finish on wings. (TC)
