Tasting notes
The 2019 Morey-Saint-Denis Les Chaffots 1er Cru suggests a little jamminess on the nose and does not quite deliver the delineation of Domaine Arlaud's Les Ruchottes. Aromas of red cherries, a touch of mocha, and fireside hearth come through. The palate is medium-bodied, with slightly drier tannins than its peers and some obvious whole bunch use here that lends complexity and welcome pepperiness toward the close. It does miss a bit of persistence on the finish though—a bit lean in that respect. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

Amazingly stemmy expression on the nose with beautifully crunchy fruit and expert balance – so joyful and youthful to enjoy now! Absolutely on point. (RH)
The 2019 Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru Les Chaffots is very good, unwinding in the glass with notes of rose petals, raspberries, dried herbs and spices. Medium to full-bodied, concentrated and precise, with plenty of fine, powdery tannins to sustain some bottle age, this will be worth seeking out.
