Tasting notes
The 2018 Chablis Butteaux 1er Cru is more complex on the nose compared to some of Michel’s other cuvées, featuring lemon, juniper and orange pith scents, all quite vibrant and generous. The palate is well balanced with a slightly viscous opening, lovely honeyed notes and a bit of ginger toward the ample finish. Not long-term, but satisfying.

Bursting with aromas of pear, crisp green apple and orange oil, the 2018 Chablis 1er Cru Butteaux is medium to full-bodied, satiny and enveloping, with an ample core of fruit, succulent acids and a saline finish. It's one of the fleshier, more extroverted wines in the range this year.
The 2018 Chablis Butteaux 1er Cru is ample and creamy in its first impression, yet also has terrific aromatic lift. Exotic white flowers, mint, orchard fruit and citrus peel add brightness to this super-intriguing Chablis. The Butteaux is a wine of fascinating contrasts; it is at once dense and also airy.
