Tasting notes
The 2017 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru is clean and crisp on the finely tuned nose, with well integrated oak and good mineralité . The fresh, vibrant palate is pixelated and full of tension from start to finish. There is wonderful salinity here, and superb length. A 2017 with ambition and the talent to pull it off. This is just a fabulous Bâtard-Montrachet. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting in Savigny-lès-Beaune.

The 2017 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru (Récolte du Domaine) unwinds in the glass with a complex bouquet of citrus oil, nectarine, fresh pear, dried white flowers, honeycomb, orange blossom and warm bread. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, broad and muscular, with more cut and tension than the house's négociant bottling of Bâtard and a longer, chalkier and better defined finish. Bottled under Diam 10, this is a concentrated, structured Bâtard that will reward extended bottle age. Bravo to Franck Grux and his team.
