Tasting notes
The 2017 Vosne-Romanée Les Suchots 1er Cru, matured in 57% new oak (Sébastien Cathiard and I did the math!), has a slight reduction on the nose, but underneath lies tightly coiled brambly red fruit mixed with stony, almost flinty aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with a smooth entry, and silky from start to finish, offering candied red berry fruit laced with blood orange and a hint of soy. Very harmonious and long, this is an accomplished Les Suchots for long-term aging.

Bursting from the glass with lavish aromas of ripe cherries, raspberries and cassis that mingle with nuances of smoked duck and rich soil, the 2017 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Suchots is full-bodied, broad and dramatic, with a fleshy attack, considerable depth and volume at the core, and a long, succulent finish. This is an immensely seductive Suchots.
