The 2017 Chablis Grenouille Grand Cru is superb. So often wines from this site can feel a bit edgy, but here the 2017 stands out for its striking textural finesse. Floral and citrus inflections give the 2017 brightness and energy to match its vivid personality. This is such an inviting and alluring Chablis. I loved it.
The 2017 Chablis Grand Cru Grenouilles has digested its oak nicely since I last tasted it, with only some subtle touches of spice and caramel framing its bouquet of honeyed apples, pears and lemons. On the palate, it's full-bodied, layered and dense, with a powerful, structural profile, dry extract and wood phenolics mingling to create a textural impression that nods to the Côte de Beaune.
The 2017 Chablis Grenouilles Grand Cru sees around 50% in wood, the most in 2017. It has an exquisite bouquet, very open and spicy hints of ginger and orange rind, gaining intensity all the time in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with a fine line of acidity, very harmonious and focused, almost understated towards the finish with yellow plum, nectarine and light orange zest notes. Just a beautiful Chablis Grand Cru.
