Tasting notes
Apple jelly and marzipan along with candied orange and lime peels on the nose anticipate the decidedly confectionary aspects delivered on the palate of this vinous concentrate. But bright juiciness of lime and orange supply unexpected animation, which, along with restrained residual sugar, guarantees that there will be nothing in the least cloying about this performance. Moreover, the vibrant, lusciously lingering finish delivers mouthwatering salinity and even a hint of underlying stone.

Beautifully fresh and pure orange blossom and lemons here, as well as thyme, rosemary and flower garden. Dry and delightful on the palate with cut-throat acidity and steely poise. Powerful but subtle. Drink now or hold.
The 2017 Riesling Ockfener Bockstein Auslese *** (White Capsule) is bright, deep and elegant on the nose, with perfectly ripe white-fleshed stone fruit and pineapple scents intertwined with very fine toast aromas. Concentrated, intense and juicy on the palate, with lots of flesh and the crystalline precision of broken slate, this is a generous but pure, close-meshed, highly elegant and finessed Auslese with pink grapefruit and raisin flavors on the persistently salty finish. This concentrated and densely textured Bockstein reveals great energy and finesse with filigreed mineral tension and lingering, mouthwatering salinity. The finish is intense and delicate at the same time. A fabulous, not really dry but dry-styled Riesling of great complexity. Tasted several times in March and April 2019.
