Pinot Noir. Tasted blind. Extraordinarily deep crimson – almost black! Sweet, buttery nose. Very sweet palate. Not the most refreshing red wine but certainly not one you would expect to find in Champagne. There’s even a bit of heat on the end that suggests an alcohol level above 12.5%! Not refined but attention-grabbing, that’s for sure. A bit over-extracted. (JR)
