Tasting notes
Sweet, chocolatey, chewy, but quite simple on the palate and definite fire from the spirit. (RH)

Still quite dark blackish ruby. Narrow pale rim. Complex claret-y nose and then with masses of sweetness on the palate. This is really very intriguing and fine. Massive palate impact. Just ready to start but there is no hurry whatsoever to drink it. Masses of dried grasses notes and fine tannins. Excellent structure with masses of potential. The finish is dry but the mid palate is massively sweet. Really vibrant. This would make a great gift for someone you know will hold on to it for many a year. How about as a present for a parent of a teenager born in 2001? (JR)
Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Barroca, Tinta Roriz and Tinto Cão. All grapes are hand-picked and fermented with natural yeast at 26-30 °C until the desired sweetness is reached. The wine is fortified with grape brandy at 77% and aged in seasoned oak vats for up to two years before being bottle matured. The wine does not undergo fining or filtration. Residual sugar: 99.8 g/l. Very dark crimson. Polished, glamorous. Great character. Douro in a bottle. Liquorice. Dry finish. So clearly a classic wine. Vigorous. Dry rather than sweet. (JR)
