Deep violet. Powerful aromas of cherry, cassis and dark chocolate are given lift by a peppery element that gains strength with air. Sweet and seamless on the palate, offering pliant dark fruit, floral pastille and chewing tobacco flavors and a strong jolt of exotic spices. Round, even tannins build steadily on an impressively long, focused finish that emphatically repeats the floral and spice notes. 20% new French oak.

The 2017 Fleur de Solène is made up of 40% Syrah, 34% Cabernet and 26% Grenache. Medium to deep ruby-purple in color, the nose opens broody at first—with smoked cranberries, dried red cherries, wild blackberries and a hint of blue fruit—before opening to notions of crushed rock, potpourri and dried flowers with earthy touches. Medium to full-bodied, it's silky with well-managed fruitiness, a plush frame and great freshness on the long, elegant finish.

Black cherries, ground herbs, cedarwood, and hints of tobacco all emerge from the 2017 Fleur De Solene, a medium-bodied red that has beautiful fruit, ripe, polished tannins, and a great finish. It's complex, balanced, and shines more for its elegance and texture than outright power and richness. This cuvée is a blend of 40% Syrah, 34% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Grenache, from a handful of top sites on the western side of Paso Robles, that spent 16 months in 25% new French oak. It’s going to keep for at least a decade.
